Answers to your Questions

SHOPPING INFORMATION

If the light bulb burns out, do I have to replace the whole headlight housing?

No. You just have to replace the LED bulbs. You do not need to replace the whole headlight housing. However, keep in mind that these bulbs are rated for 25,000 – 30,000 HOURS. It is unlikely that you will ever need to replace the bulbs. You could run your headlights all night long every day for 8 years!

Do your LED bulbs have a low and a high beam?

Yes, the LED bulbs have a low and a high beam that are functionally identical to the original Sealed beam headlights.

Are these headlights DOT approved?

These E-code spec headlights exceed all European and Canadian standards for street use, and are widely considered superior to U.S. spec headlights. Unfortunately the U.S. DOT never adopted the European standard (nor did they set their own), leaving a hole in the regulations. As a result, all H4’s (even E-code ones) must be designated as “for offroad use only” if sold in the U.S. Compliance with local laws is the buyer’s responsibility.

What is the difference between a Halogen bulb, Xenon bulb, Sealed beam and LED?

LED bulbs are the brightest, longest lasting bulbs available. They produce almost no heat and draw the least amount of electricity when compared to conventional lighting systems.

Are the headlights only sold as pairs?

We are willing to sell individual headlights on special request.

What is the wattage on the LED light bulbs?

Most of our LED lights run between 18-24W (12V).

Are the lens plastic or glass?

The front lens is made of glass in all of our Headlight Kits.

If I have four headlights in front of my car what size will they be?

Cars with 4 headlights from 1936’s to 1979 usually had four 5 3/4 inch headlights.

This is a great middle-ground lens. This product is best if you are looking for the most “Old School” lens while still delivering modern quality beam pattern and light output.

Hella “Show quality” lens:

These are our top tier lenses that deliver unparalleled quality and performance. They feature name brand German Hella lens manufactured to the highest European standards.

How to aim/adjust the headlights?

Headlight must be securely mounted and properly aimed such that the beam pattern “cut off line” complies with all applicable regulations. If you are not familiar with the legal requirements for aiming your headlights, please see a professional service provider. We recommend that headlights are aimed with a headlight aiming system for proper alignment. Failure to properly aim your headlights is a risk to other drivers and could result in tickets or citations with local authorities. VintagecarLEDs is not liable for any damage to the vehicle or light, or any tickets/citations as a result of using these guidelines.

  1. Vehicle is being aimed on a level surface.
  2. All tires are properly inflated.
  3. Vehicle is at normal driving height (applicable to vehicles with hydraulic lifts).
Note: Headlights must be AIMED AGAIN if a lift kit is added or removed from the vehicle.
  4. If you have a laser level, it will expedite the aiming process and will help to increase accuracy in aiming.
